extracting audio from video clip

When I edit video clip in Vegas when I cut some out some clips, audio is cut out as well. How do cut out only video track, and how do I extract audio track only?

Just select the audio track and hit "U" to ungroup it from the video track or Render as .WAV to a new file and put that on the T/L
