Extracting DVD for editing

Hey all,

So I have some footage on beta that someone converted to DVD for me. How do I get that footage in a format that I can edit it? I've ripped it to my hard drive, but all i have are VOB files and such. How do I convert that to MPEG2 or AVI?

Rename the vob to mpg and drag it into vegas. That will give you the video.

then use something like dvd2avi to strip the audio out of the VOB; you could also use dvd2avi to convert the VOB into a .avi file as well.

Thanks Scott... If I just convert the VOB to .avi and then open it in vegas, will the video quality be worse than if i just change the VOB to an mpg? thanks for the tip.
