EXTREMELY SLOW RENDER TIMES

brenda-oBB wrote on 2/20/2021, 4:05 PM

I have a new desktop. AMD 3950X 64 GB ram with old RX570, all I could get easily imported here.

Vegas Pro 18.0 Build 434.

The render times are a bad joke. 40fps on a simple 4mb/s CBR 1080p.

Other formats are barely faster than my I7 7700 old Intel laptop.

The CPU runs well on things like Handbrake and Cinebench - 23,721 score.

The CPU barely operates at 40-60% whether CPU or combo GPU rendering.

Any assistance with settings appreciated.

Screenshot your project properties and render settings? What is the footage?

What Fx are applied?

Just got into bed.

I'll send the total info tomorrow.

Its a very simple test project. 1080p standard HD format 12-24mb/s. No effects except two video tracks of simple text over lay.

I did a full reinstall. This time no Windows update - December 2020 build. This time I got 70fps with GPU acceleration. Still slow.

The timeline is super smooth at full res preview window. I nearly cried. Then the render process had me in shock. I was gobsmacked. 16 cores?

I use two pieces of software almost exclusively - Vegas and screen recording software from Logitech. The fact they were both severely hampered and in the case of Logitech, useless, continues my run of very bad luck.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'll post full details tomorrow. But it did it a cross multiple projects. I hope it is some Windows glitch.

Thanks again.

Sounds good.

I'd also encourage you to download and test a standard benchmark project. You'll see other results for similar CPUs and GPUs, so if your system is underperforming you'll know it. If you get similar results, well, that's just all you can expect for now with Vegas.

I get 10fps. 3950X

Intel I7 7700 - 14fps.

I just spent $3000USD (grossly over priced) for a box that gives me 10fps.

I'm to depressed to even bother anymore.

Can you share render times and settings with NVENC and CPU (Mainconcept) using MagixAVC?
