Extremely slow render times in Studio Platinum 12

Hello

I'm using the newest build (64-bit Build 756), and I am getting very slow renders on videos that really shouldn't take so long. First, my specs:

Windows 8
Core i7 3820 @ 4.3 GHz
Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition
32 GB RAM @ 1866 MHz

So I had Build 335 installed a few days ago, and it was rendering videos for Youtube (840x480 at 30 fps for some and 1280x720 at 30 fps for others) in just under one minute per minute, which is already a little slow for my tastes considering my specs, but whatever.

Just today, I had an error that would not allow me to open Movie Studio Platinum. I eventually had to do a system restore that allowed me to reinstall and get it working. I was shown the new build and I installed it. I put my settings back to the way they were before and tried rendering one of my videos, and it ended up taking over 25 minutes for a 12 minute video, which is really bad. What's worse is that my CPU usages is at 20-30% and my GPU is usually at 0%, so GPU acceleration is not working and I'm not getting the most out of my system, and I'm pretty sure that's what is taking it so long to render.

I've tried changing many settings, including RAM usage and GPU acceleration, and even changing what format I render to, but anything I change seems to make it render even more slowly.

I'm really not sure what happened, so does anyone have any idea how I can get back to where I was before, or preferably get it to render even faster? Thanks!

Reinstall video drivers?

Did you try uninstalling SMS and reinstalling it after the you rebuilt the system? Is your system seeing your GPU?

Does your motherboard have iGPU capabilities? If so, are you sure everything is set up OK in your BIOS settings (using the full GPU)?

regarding rendering speed, 1:1 seems to be about the fastest I have seen (for AVCHD to mp4). What type of camera are the clips from?

musicvid: I have the video drivers installed. I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling later.

Mark: SMS = Sony Movie Studio? If not, I'm not sure what you mean. I did have to reinstall it.

My system sees my GPU and I can use it for games and monitor temps and usage etc.

Speaking of which, that's what the clips are from. I use Dxtory to record game footage. I also use an AverMedia Live Gamer HD which I believe records to WMV.

You say your system can see your graphics card but have you checked that Movie Studio can see it and is using it? Go to options/preferences/video and take a look.

SMS = Sony Movie Studio (removed 'Vegas' for V12)

Try renderings something else (other source footage) or to a different codec. Do you still see the same long rendering times?
