Fade through blacks skipping after rendering

Hello-

I just upgraded to 3.0 from 2.0, not much different. I had this same problem with 2.0. I do a lot of slide shows and after I render, any format, and view on PC or Burn to DVD, the fade through black transitions aren't smooth any more, not all maybe 20%. They start to go black then flash a image from the next picture. I sometimes can look at the rendered video and go back in the project and redo the fade. Sometimes you can see it on the preview window while editing sometimes it looks normal. I can't seem to figure out whats causing this. I have a AMD 2700 with 512 megs.

Also is there any windows memory setting that will help smooth out the preview window while editing. I've turned of most services, but still don't get accurate play backs. Audio seems fine but after a few transitions it starts skipping them.

Is there any way to slow down the play back so it will give it more time to smooth out the video?

I have encountered this myself - I think its a matter of positioning the events. Depending on what scale you are viewing your timeline on, you might not notice that events are not perfectly aligned. Make sure you have snapping turned on to precisely position your images.

Hello-

I think that's some of my problem. I'm using the snap tool with a 15 frame offset, then I'm sliding the picture into place until it snaps on the 15 frame over lap. I then drag and drop a fade through black transition. I've found that when I have a problem I split 1 frame of the existing picture and reposition the next picture this works 90% of the time. Sometimes I have to move it around a bit more. Does this have anything to do with the picture looping? How exactly is a picture treated in VF? What's really weird is that in the middle of the transition sometimes I get a 1 full brightness frame on the preview. But it doesn't seem to be consistently there with the render. Sometime nothing on the preview but shows up on the render. Sometimes I can see the frame on the time line when I step through the transition.

Rick - this is one of those things that is difficult to imagine. Any chance you can provide a small example of the problem?
