Fading out an effect - help!

I' a newbe to Vegas and I'm just finishing my first project.

Here is my problem. I'm trying to add a sepia effect, fading out at the beginning and fading in at the end of a clip.

I can only seem to add the effect to the whole clip, is there a way to control it further?

Use keyframes on the effect.

Or you can duplicate the clip an put it on a new track above the first, on this clip you put the effect and you can put the transition you want over the effects.

You can also split the event and make atransition between the clips.

"S" key. The "S" key is between the "A" and "D" key - ;-)

Put the cursor on the frame you want to split and press S.

A little subtlety of the "S" shortcut may be of interest to newcomers.

If you selct an event and hit "S", ONLY that event will be split, at the cursor position.

If you click outside events to place the cursor, so that no events are selected, then ALL events on ALL tracks at that point will be split.

Except for Locked events, that is .... but, as the architects say, that's another storey. Follow Grazie's advice and browse the Help files
