Failed Launch

Just loaded Movie Studio 3.0. Went through the online registration fine. Then when I launch the application, the screen shows up for about 1 second and then blinks off. The application is failing to launch. Any clues on what is wrong?

I'm running a 1.7 GH Athlon with 512 MB RAM. I'm sure I have the horsepower. I do not have a capture card installed however. Wondering if this might be part of the failure?

Any help from others would be great!

Not having a capture card shouldn't matter - the capture program is separate from the main NLE, so it shouldn't care. What O/S are you using? There may be an error log that can help.

Hi Ian - Thanks for the help. I'm using XP. Where would I look to discover any error messages? Thanks!

download and install the 3.0a update just to make certain its not a known issue conflict.

If you still have a problem after the upgrade, look in Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Event Viewer. If there's nothing there, you could try running the application from DOS and see if that throws up any error messages.

Still trying to figure this out! I downloaded the 3.0a version from Sony's download area. Loaded it and the program is still doing the same this. It blinks onto the screen for a moment (just the splash screen) and then goes off.

I checked the event log inside administrative tools. No help there. There were no application or system errors.

This one has me stumped. Could it have something to do with Norton AV? I partially disabled Norton, but not all the way.

I'll call tech support on Monday (when they reopen). Unless there is a guru out there who might know what is happening
