This looks like the download is being stopped at the point where it finishes downloading to the temp folder and then saves to the perminent folder designated for downloads on the system.  Try clicking "save as" and saving to a different location, possibly on a different drive.

As far as I remember, one only has a choice to decide where to save the small 4Mb trial_vegaspro14.exe, not the large 415MB installer itself, which is automatically downloaded in the background. I may be wrong. A direct link to that 415MB installer would be useful, and the OP could run that directly.

There is a direct link to the installer now:

Download build 189 now with the help of the following link: http://rdir.magix.net/?page=3WYQO6PGVP3Q

Thanks but that redirects to a file named VEGAS_Pro_14.0.0.189_update_Retail_x64.exe  The build 178 downloaded a file called VEGAS_Pro_14.0.0.178_Trial_14_0_0_178.exe  So I'm wondering if there is build 189 version that is intended as a trial, not a retail version, and if there is any difference. I have tried changing the numbers 178 to 189 and not been able to find a URL for VEGAS_Pro_14.0.0.189_Trial_14_0_0_189.exe or similar. I tried a couple of variants, and a couple of different Magix servers.

this build fixes the updating bug that prevented some from updating to 178.

if you want the trial exe, which makes no difference, use the installer

Thanks. Unfortunately "installer" is ambiguous as it could mean either the 4MB file or the 416MB file. To be clear, you mean that VEGAS_Pro_14.0.0.189_update_Retail_x64.exe will operate correctly as a trial version?

Wolfgang S. wrote on 11/2/2016, 1:52 PM

Yes there can be a difference between a trial version of Vegas and a version that will work with an earlier installation only. Since we have here an earlier version installed it is hard to assess for us what includes the downlaod link posted by Mathias.

Surely if Mathias posts a link to build 189 which is similar in size to the pre Magix updates we are used to, might we not expect this to be a fully installable version on VP14.

What is the actual means of picking uo the latest version of VP14.  Re-run the the small 'vegaspro14.exe' file from time to time?.

Inclined to think Magix should clarify matters.

Read somewhere that only two activations of VP14 are permitted. To move an instance of VP14 to say a third machine an instance of VP14 must be de activated (no problem with that).  What I have failed to find is a means of de-activating.  Can someone clarify this please.

The version posted by Mathias is a fully installable version. The question is only if it can run as trial too or will request a valid serial immediately.

At the moment it is a good idea to follow the forum information, to see if another update is available.

Deactivation of an installation can be done in your Magix account.

Thanks Wolfgang.  I was looking for an embedded 'activation' as per NB or GrassValley.

So if an update is announced/available does one re-run 'vegaspro14.exe' or download & run a full.exe over a hopefully earlier version.

Typically you ran a full exe that will copy everything above the old version if you have one installed in your system. Or will install the version if it is the first time you install Vegas.

But you will have to activate the newer version after the installation again as far as I have seen.
