This may not be the best way, but you can render it out as avi uncompressed and apply the effect to that footage as well.

Hold down the CTRL key and place the cursor at the end of the clip. You should see it turn to a wiggly line. Hold the CTRLkey down drag it backwards as far as possible. This gives you another 300% increase. If that's not enough, render it out, bring it back in and repeat.

You can also apply a velocity envelope for another 3x giving you a total of 12x.

Insert the event velocity at its highest rate and render avi. Reopen the file and it will run at the accelerated rate. You can now reinsert another envelope and speed up the rate again to your satisfaction.

Saving a render you could also do this with Nesting.

Thanks. Rendering to avi and repeat did the trick. But why is there a limit on far you can go with the regular Playback Rate? Why does it have to stop at 4x? Seems like someone could make a real easy plugin to do this trick.

There is a plugin for it. I don't recall the name, but you could probably find it at vasst.com.

Why the 4x and 300% limits? Beats me. I suppose it has to stop somewhere, but those values do see kinda low. I've done a lot of high-speed stuff by going 12x and rendering again. At least the second pass goes 12 times faster, and the third 144 times faster.

It's called Time Bandit and it's a part of Veggie Toolkit. It gets very positive reviews from a lot of folks on this group. Price is $70 US.
