Feature Request(Export LUTS In Batch From Image Sequence).

JesusSheep-1965 wrote on 6/20/2018, 9:44 AM

Generate LUTs from Image Sequence made from Vegas Pro.

Also Have Snapshots have the File Format Choices as Render Image Sequence. For Example OpenEXR.As well as being Uncompressed.😎

I don't understand; can you explain further?

What is the specific purpose/use of the exported LUT? ( I do understand what LUT's are used for in general). Example?

You can currently render to image sequences (including EXR); what is missing for you?

Thanks.

Vegas Pro Has Image Sequence choice in render as that generates a sequence of Image Files. What is missing is generating the .cude file for the lut plugin. Also would be nice is to be able gererate a batch of Look Up Tables .cube files from the Image Sequence and Snapshop as well :) LUTs are for color correction.

Still not understanding why you are connecting image sequence generation with LUT generation. (They would be .cube files by the way - typo?)

Yes, already read Balazers post.

"Snapshop" ???

Are you saying you want to do color correction in Vegas for each clip (or "event") on the timeline and then export this information as a series of LUT's so you can reconnect them to the clips in other software?

I don't think we're on the same page here; maybe not even in the same library. :)

AFAIK, the only thing that can export a LUT in Vegas is the Filmconvert plugin. And this is obviously plugin-specific. There is no 'sum-of-all-FX-LUT-exporter', if you're chasing such a thing, sorry. Interim, you might want to consider the free Resolve version to create & package LUTs..

I am not a perfect speller as you can see . Did you read link I posted and watch the video ? Either from snapshot or from a single file from the image there is no way to even generate a single ".cube" from for color correction.

here is the youtube video on it :

Here is the Link on the web site : https://www.logarist.com/

Divinchi Resolve can create ".cube" from the video clips.

The ability to Apply LUTs in Vegas is relatively new (this version) and a very welcome step forward. And yes, me too, I am looking forward to more functionality once all the stability & speed issues are resolved, we could hopefully see logarithmic colour correction, HDR correction, LUT exports which are currently missing sadly.

Magix could bundle filmcomvert also :http://www.filmconvert.com

AVsupport wrote on 6/20/2018, 6:37 PM

IMO you're better off buying full versions of 3rd party. When Magix bundles plugins, they can expire in the next Version, there's no guarantees for ongoing support or that they'll work...

All I wanted to know (and I am still waiting... patiently) is WHY? What is the workflow where you would need a LUT created & exported from Vegas?

I totally get IMPORTING a LUT created in DaVinci, or Photoshop, Or Affinity, or from Filmconvert...but why export?

JesusSheep-1965 wrote on 6/20/2018, 11:37 PM

Same Resson why you would do it in Divinchi Resolve,Photoshop,Affinity. Snapshot only created a compressed file . The ".cude" files you make from uncompressed Image files are more accurate for color correction. If you do not have the LUT for the camera you used you have to get it or create it from a video file or image file. :)

Kinvermark wrote on 6/21/2018, 12:04 AM

The difference is that those programs have far more advanced colour correction & grading features than Vegas, so it makes sense to makes "looks" (LUT's) there and apply the LUT to footage in Vegas. It does not seem to make sense to do this the other way around.

Creating a camera LUT is a specialist technical area, and can also be made in other programs. No need to use Vegas for this. Maybe take a look at 3D LUT creator if you don't like the others.
