I believe that Sound Forge has an FFT analyzer as part of its tool set, but can anyone here suggest some other FFT software worth looking into that's similar to that found in Sound Forge...that's not too expensive?
I've tried a couple I found from an online search, but they seemed cheap at best.
In my opinion ,2 of the best are either Smaartlive or Spectra. They aren't all that inexpensive though. Check them out for yourself. I use Spectra Lab by Sound Technologies and love the RTA. Others I work with use Smaart Live and prefer that one. Either is a good choice.
The ones I listed are stand alone. I'm not sure what the penquin one is. I have run Vegas and Sound Forge with Spectra without any problems. Waves "PAZ" spectrum analyzer is a plugin and is one of the best I've seen for a plugin.
Pinguin is not a plug, I run it as an insert in my soundcards mixer.
Its worth running a 2nd PC just to run an analyzer.
I have a dedicated screen just for this, with the window expanded larger than it so I only see the meaningful data. Size is everything for it to be any use.
I found some analyzers to be pretty, but of little practical use. For example if you change an eq by 6 db but can't see the difference
