Field order changing whenrendering to Sony YUY codec

Hi to all,
I have a simple question: I have a PAL DV footage which is lower field. I do some editing and then render it back to PAL DV. When I look at the properties of this new file Vegas says it's lower field as it should be.
If I render with Sony YUY codec (lower field enabled) the output file will be reported as upper field in Vegas. Does this happen only to me? Can someone reproduce this and why does this happen.

Why? By the way, could it be Vegas that misreports it? Is there any other utility that shows information about field order in video files

there is also another method that on the fcp and avid site regarding the top half line to determe field order - but i couldnt find it ... maybe it was on the AE site ..

or play it back on a ntsc monitor and you can quickly see if out of order ..

Does the new field order appear to be an incorrect field order, or just upper field instead of lower field?

Since I chose to render as lower field new file created should be reported as that by Vegas. But Vegas reports it as upper field

Vegas does misreport the field order in at least two other cases (speaking about PAL video): uncompressed AVIs and some Canopus DV-AVIs. Here Vegas says the video is upper field though it is lower field for sure.
This is a known issue. I don't know why this is not yet fixed. Solution is to modify the "vegas profiles.ini" file which is in the Vegas program folder. There is a line:

Key2=0, "None", 720, 576, 25.0, 0
Attributes2="Upper Field", 1.0925925925, "Undefined", 1

If you set the value "Upper Field" to "Lower Field" uncompressed AVIs and that Canopus DV-AVIs work well again. I modified that vegas profiles.ini file long time ago. And now - when I render to Sony YUV - even this is reported correctly as lower field. So maybe you'd also try to modify the .ini file. Be sure to save your old .ini-file before.
