Field Order - who cares?

I am doing a project where I shoot 1920x1080 50i Upper field first.
I will then mix this with a bunch of older Sony Handycam tape video 720x576 Pixel aspect ratio 1,0926 (PAL DV) Lower field first.

The project will be 1920x1080 50i, unless others have better suggestions. Output is DVD Architect PAL Widescreen.
Will Vegas do it all for me, do I at all have to take the Field order into consideration?

As long as Vegas knows what the correct field order of the source clips are, it will handle it fine. Vegas should be able to figure out each of the clip's field orders by itself, but you might want to look at the clip's properties just to make sure.

If I have any doubts I always check the final product on a monitor that can show me if the field order is wrong. I've have had footage with the flags wrong. I have had Vegas mess up badly as well. You need some oddball things for Vegas to mess up. With correctly flagged interlaced footage such as being discussed here all should be just fine.
Reason I'm so cautious is field order mixups look really bad.
