File locations and configuration

I am new to Video Editing, can somebody give me some advice on where to allocate the files to take advantage of the machine I have.
It is a Toshiba Lap Top with two hard drives and also an SD card slot in which I have a 32 Gig Card. My thoughts were to split the files so the masters where on one drive and the edited output was saved to the other drive. Posibly doing the renders to the SD Card which in theory should be faster than either of the hard drives.

Any help appreciated or a pointer to where there may be information on the optimisation of Vegas Movie Studio 11.

For best results, keep your project files and media on your second hard drive -- ideally in their own separate folder. (You can do this automatically if you select the option to Manage Files when you first set up your project and then create a new folder for your project file before you save it.)
