I use Vegas to make slideshows from photos and to edit DV from a DV camcorder. My output is typically to create MPEG files for DVD use [DVD Architect] and to create higher than DVD [either HD or 1024x768] resolution Windows Media 9 files to watch on a computer.
In the future, I'd like to be able to have my work viewable on HD TV sets or computers set up for HD [or even watch from a computer to a large HD monitor].
I keep the WMV files on a large hard drive, but otherwise archive all the project files [VEG files, jpegs, rendered MPEG and WMV files, etc.] to DVD.
I haven't seen much benefit to rendering files to AVI format because they aren't used in making the DVDs, and they are so much bigger than the WMV files [and lower resolution too]. I am assuming that I don't get any benefit from AVI files for my future needs either, since the AVI format is DV, which does not have a high definition resolution.
Is there some benefit to creating or archiving AVI files that I'm missing?
