Dr Z - there's absolutely no point in converting PAL to 24p - which is why it isn't an option. Progressive PAL runs at 25 frames per sec - so you're incredibly close the the "cadence" of film already -- no need to these pulldown hacks that the NTSC people need. So simply de-interlace your footage (and colour correct etc...) and you're there!

Ed's plug is working great on my end, so it will be something you'll enjoy when he starts shipping it.

I tried it and all I can get is Directory Does not exist.

I just highlighted the clip, ran the script, selected the first render option, picked a directory, and got the Directory Does Not Exist message.

...that's as far as I can get.

I've been trying to understand the differences between setting field order (progressive, lower, upper) at the event, project, or render level. Is there an easy answer or a post someone can point me to.

This has been an interesting thread on 24p and I can't get to Jetdv's script either. Would love to look at it.

Spot,

you don't mention this in your tutorial but I have to ask:

If i want to print the 24p back to tape, is it possible? Ihaven't tried it yet but I was just wondering.

great tutorial. I'll try to buy your book this month (is not cheap buying books from Brazil...)

thanks
Daniel

If you want to print back to 24p, you must have a camera capable of receiving it, such as the Panasonic DVX100. Otherwise, it won't be able to print without rendering back to 60i (or 50i in PAL land)

Sorry Spot.

The tutorial has so much information that i didn't see the topic "output"

Sorry to make you answer that again.

thanks

Thanks Spot! Looking forward to that update, but where will I be able to find that update on filmlook? I found your initial filmlook tutorial at http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/tutorials/filmlook.htm By the way: I just bought your book - it's worth every penny! Bravo! Regards from Germany.

Thanks Spot for the tutorial, Jetdv for the script and everyone for participation: greate info!!!
I'd love toget that script too, but here is what I get by clicking on the link to it:
Not Found
The requested URL /scripts/FilmLook1_0.exe was not found on this server.

Is it too late???

The current filename is now FilmLook1_0b.exe. Add the "b" and you should be able to download it fine.

Thanks to Filmy, we're working on a much broader version, has much better error handling, and a selection of "looks" will be available. Don't have an exact timeframe yet.
