Filtering out wind noise

I have some video that I shot that has a lot of wind noise. I've played with the "Audio Track FX" that you can change by clicking on the icon to the left of an audio track, but haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of the wind noise.

Am I missing something obvious? Missing a plug-in? I'm using Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0.

You want to roll off low frequencies around 300 Hz using an equalizer. The audio ExpressFX in MovieStudio are not as good as the full ones that come with Vegas but you should be able to get close. Try adding an ExpressFX Graphic EQ to the audio track. Here’s how:

Click on the Audio Track FX button, then in the upper right corner of the FX dialog click on Edit Chain button. In the dialog that pops up, select FX from the tree view on the left (as opposed to Track Optimized FX) and select ExpressFX Graphic EQ from the right window. Click the Add button to add it to the chain and click OK to dismiss the dialog. This will give you much more control than the default track optimized Equalization. Start by reducing the low frequencies around 225 Hz until the rumble from the wind is reduced.

Note: It is possible that ExpressFX Graphic EQ does not come with MovieStudio. I have both Vegas 4 and VideoFactory 2 on my machine so its hard for me to tell which plugin came with what.

One nice feature of the Screenblast Movie Studio is that it includes a copy of Sonic Foundry's audio editor.

Right-click on the audio track and select "Open in audio editor" and it should open automatically. Once there, you can use the equalizer to make the adjustments JohnnyRoy recommended.

Do you have to do something to set the Sonic Foundry audio editor as your default editor?

When I right click on an audio track and select "Open in audio editor" I get a message saying that I don't have an audio editor chosen.

Open Options> Preferences then the tab for Audio prefs, there you can choose perfered audio editor to point to sbforge.exe.

Can someone tell me what version of Screenblast Sound Forge 1.1 comes with Movie Studio, regular or Deluxe?

There was NO sbforge.exe that came with my Movie Studio 3.0 (build 78). Should there have been? How do I get it? Or is it hiding under a different name?

Oops. You're right, I'm wrong. Screenblast Sound Forge did not come with the Screenblast Movie Studio 3.0.
It's Screenblast ACID 4.0 that comes with Screenblast Sound Forge. I should have asked around before I answered your question.

Sorry,

Suzan
