Finally got Vegas 7 Upgrade e-mail - bad deal

Chanimal wrote on 10/10/2006, 3:45 PM
I FINALLY got my e-mail about the upgrade to Vegas for $149. Having used it since 2.0, along with owning Video Factory, plus all Acid, Sound Forge, Noise Reduction, etc., etc., I am shocked it took this long to get the notice.

Plus, it isn't even as good as the one sent earlier. The price is higher and there is no offer to also get Cinescore at a discount. The only thing I can figure (since e-mail is easy to send) is that they are testing different specials with different groups (it is something I would do whenever doing a direct response campaign).

It sure is late. Anyone else notified in this latest batch--or am I the last to be notified?

The offer has been available almost since day one under the first knowledgebase article. Just go there and click on the $149 offer you will find the cinescore offer and the $135 download only offer. You'd get the same result by clicking on the link in the email. No conspiracy here that I see.

I've not heard a peep from them, Ted, and I have several registered Sony Media products.

Konrad,

I already ordered it at the lower price with the special--having waited two days origionally. I'm just surprised that the "first" offer I ever received came so late.

Jay - maybe you will get an entirely different offer. Even if Sony doesn't remember you, we all still love ya' ;-)

unfortuantely some ISPs are blocking emails from Sony because fo the barrage of upgrade emails they send out.

If you can't get the deal from Sony anymore, we're offering a pretty good bundle with the upgrade and cinescore http://www.videoguys.com/vegasvideo.html

i haven't gotten a vegas upgrade e-mail. ever. I get ones for Sound Forge & Acid, but never vegas. And i've bought/registered Vegas 3 LE, 4 & 6. I've only bought the $60 Acid & have the free SF that came with it (and i uninstalled immedietly because it was sooooo limited, freeware audio apps offered more)

How did the delay cost you $100? What prices are you being quoted.

"How did the delay cost you $100? What prices are you being quoted." I was wondering the same thing as you don't need the email just go to the knowledgebase.

I FINALLY got my e-mail about the upgrade to Vegas for $149.

I really don't get all the fuss I keep seeing about who got the offer when. The link for the knowledgebase article on the special pricing has been posted on this forum several, if not dozens of times. You don't need the e-mail to get the special pricing -- never have.

Plus, it isn't even as good as the one sent earlier. The price is higher

If this is the first e-mail offer you got, what "one sent earlier" are you referring to? There's only been one offer, and what you received is it. $149 for a shipped CD, $135 for a download. Nothing has changed.

and there is no offer to also get Cinescore at a discount.

The Cinescore discount is offered to you when you place your order for Vegas. There, too, nothing has changed.

Got my offer today, but thanks to the many kind folks on this forum, bought my upgrade weeks ago. Love the new version. Am starting the upgrade to HDV road now.
wolfbass wrote on 10/10/2006, 9:16 PM
If you see the 'upgrade price' as $249, then 3 weeks later, after you've purchased already, see the upgrade price as $149, which you didn't know about because you didn't get an email, or weren't informed, wouldn't you feel you'd spend and extra $100 for the same thing?

Therefore it's cost me $100 USD because the email didn't get to me until today.

wolfbass, call Sony Customer Service. They usually fix this sort of thing.

"Therefore it's cost me $100 USD because the email didn't get to me until today."

But you posted to this thread on 9/18 that contained multiple posts on how to get the deal.

One call to Sony support should solve the $100 problem.
