I have a Firestore FS-4 PRO HD.
It works great in SD (producing .avi files).
I have had some problems with corrupted files in HD. However, the biggest problem is when I try to use the retro-cache (starts recording before the start button on the camera is pushed.) If I start or stop recording with the camera to tape on my Canon A1 or Sony HC3, there is a corruption in the file on the FS-4.
There are no problems with Vegas in either SD or uncorrupted HD files.
I just got an FS-C or FS-4 Pro..connected to a GL2 using AVI-type2.
I can't use the files... Vegas says they are all corrupted... not using cache.... Avid and Windows has no problem with them....
I've got both an nNovia QCDeck and Firestore FS4HD. I use them interchangeably on both a Canon XL2 and a JVC HD110. The Firestore unit has random and occasional dropouts, but, it might be due to bumping the firewire connection.
I MUCH prefer the nNovia solution. The operating menu is much more intuitive, less prone to error. Hitting the wrong button on the firestore will corrupt the setup requiring reboot and resetting up.
