FireWire 410 & disabling on board soundcard

After battling trying to get the sound right with mediocre speakers and the motherboard piece of crap sound card I finally saved up enough $$ to get started with better sound equipt. So I bought a FireWire 410 and the 3 piece LX-4 kit for now(wanted the BX-8's but the're out of my budget right now)placed on Mopads.
I installed the lastest drivers for the 410 and disabled the MB soundcard in the sounds /controllers section of control panel.
Everything seems to be working fine. And sounds 100 times better.
But reading some posts should I go into bios and disable the MB sound there too?
I was alsao going to uninstall all software for it as well.

Anybody 's $.02 worth?

If you're not using it, you might as well disable the onboard sound. Even if it doesn't cause conflicts, it's still using resources better used elsewhere. Either disable it in BIOS, or in Windows System Device Manager.

Thanks Brian, I think thats what I did in device manager, I should be good to go then.

Wise move. I had all sorts of issues using the 410 to record with the laptop until I disabled the SoundMax drivers.
