Firewire and Win 8.1

Has anyone gotten Firewire capture to work on Win8.1? Just upgraded to Movie Studio 13 and it doesn't capture via firewire either. This is an on-going issue in Win 8.1 since Microsoft no longer supports it. So far, I have no software that will and no resolution. I may have to re-install Win 7 on my laptop just to get my old tapes captured.

Sorry, but Firewire capture from a miniDV works just great for me on Windows 8.1 and Movie Studio 13.

Are you sure you have all of the Windows and Microsoft Updates?

Sorry, I should have titled it better. Win8.1 will not capture HDV tape using firewire. This is a well known issue that Microsoft will not address. Even with Win7, most users had to revert to the 'Legacy' 1394 driver. I had to do that on both my desktop and laptop. The legacy driver is not available on Win8 or 8.1. From what I've read, the legacy driver can't be installed on Win 8.1.

Kinda makes me wonder why there aren't torches and pitchforks invading the Redmond campus by now.
