First Sony EX1 Video

My First EX1 Vid
Did this little vid as a thanks for the band, they've been awesome to me and I love working with em. This was just me and my camera so the shots are all patched together from all over the place but still kinda dig it ... but then I'm a fan. =)

I will say that having shot almost the same show just a couple months ago with the A1 I'm blown away. So much easier to shoot in the darkness of a club and catching those oh so wonderful debth of field moments that I wouldn't have gotten without the ex1.

Check it and lemme know whatcha think. And if youre on Vimeo, leave some comments so I can feel like one of the cool kids!!!

Well, the music isn't exactly my cup of tea, but the shoot and edit were masterful and that EX1 looks absolutely AMAZING under those less-that-ideal conditions!!!

Video - really great job Ray, well done.

Music - Formulaic, predictably mock-sinister chromatic, maskoid, unlikely to improve society - not my cup of tea either!

Nice job Ray. Flash version looks really good.

How does the footage look when converted to SD DVD? I am particularly interesting in knowing how much black crush happens with the camera under stage lighting. Do you find that it handles low light exceptionally well?

Nice Job, Ray.

Good choice for Vimeo as well. Makes YouTube look like a pre-schooler ;)

Thanks everyone for the compliments. =)

And Grazie, go get one!!!

Haven't bumped this down to SD but considering how it looks streaming I'm more than encouraged. I used the default picture profile so there was no problem with the blacks, and like I said, compared to the A1 that I had shot this same band, same lights, same club, just a month or so ago there is simply no comparison in low light shooting. I kept the EX1 at -3 the whole time at had NO noticeable noise whatsoever.

And yea, Vimeo is amazing. I've only got one vid up on YouTube for as long as I've been a member there. Their huge membership has always made me want to post stuff there but I just can't handle seeing my stuff look that awful. For peeps who work in video it really is just painful to look at. Now that I've got down how to make HD stuff look good on Vimeo I just need to figure out how to make some of my older stuff look decent.

I enjoyed the camera work, the edits and the band. Great job!

BTW, there is a trick/hack that will allow you to improve the quality of the videos played on youtube by using a hex editor with Windows.
