fit to dvd

Hello, I have a large video project I have been working on. The video is 2 hours 44 minuts long. I have spent many hours editing it on Movie Studio + DVD. I rendered it and moved the video to DVD architect 3. I went to prepare and burn, but file to large. 10,232.8 MB. I am pritty sure I will need two DVD's to make it work. Is there a way I can split the video in half, so I can burn 2 DVD's, or can I fit it all on one dvd somehow without loosing quality.

Thank you
Mark

Render two sets of files in Movie Studio. Select the first half lf the project and render MPEG/WAV files from that. Then select the second half and render MPEG/WAV again from that half. Use these two separate sets of files to create two separate DVD Architect projects.

Note that 10,232.8MB is too large even fro two DVDs. The limit on a single layer disc is about 4.3MB. You may want to use a lower bitrate when you render to reduce the size a bit more.

Thank you for your quick reply. Can you please explain how to select one half at a time, for the rendering. I am worried if I mess with my timeline it will change the timing for my video overlay. I mixed two seperate camera angles together with timing important.

Thank you
Mark

Also is there a way in movie studio, to cut some video out of the begining and not worry about the overlay timing in upcoming events of the video.

Probably the most foolproof way to select part of the timeline is with the I (in) & O (out) keys. To select the first half, move the cursor to the beginning of the timeline and press i then move the cursor to the middle and press o. You'll see a blue bar appear above the timeline with yellow triangles at each end. Then when you Make Movie under advanced choose the option to "render loop region only". Rendering will start where you pressed i and stop where you pressed o. To render the second half, drag the first yellow triangle from the beginning to the end of the project. The one in the middle will stay put and assure that the second half will begin at the next frame after the first half ended. Render again using "render loop region only."

This will have no effect on the timing of your edits since you aren't changing anything on the timeline.

You could use the method described above for rendering only part of the file. Simply place the first i marker after the stuff you don't want.

A better solution, though more dangerous, is to turn on Ripple edits (assuming you have Vegas Studio 6), set it to affect all tracks and markers, highlight the section you want to delete, and press the Delete key. Everything in the selected section will be removed and everything after that section will move over to the left to fill in the gap. Save before you try this, and practice it several times. It's easy to mess up if you're not careful. In particular, you must make sure you have either all the tracks or no tracks selected, or the delete will only remove clips from the selected track(s).
