How can you tell when you are in the edit mode how much video will fit onto a standard DVD? I do not want to edit and creat a movie only to find out that when I go to burn to a DVD it will not fit.
There are several good threads on this subject. Click the Search link at the top of this page, change Search By Date to "last 2 years", click Perform Search.
Most DVD's disk will take an hour of video easy. When you start making 1 1/2 hours or more you have to optimize the disk. In there you'll see " fit to disk." Then if it's still to long it will tell you. Nero has a recode that often helps comoression for long movies. Also if you DVD write has dual layer writing capabilities for 3 hour or so movies. So in Vegas the time line will tell you how long the video is. This a just a rule of thumb for me.
