Fix for my Dropped Frames problem

Just FYI in case it helps someone...
Problem with dropped frames on new machine. Old slower machine, same cable and camera worked fine. Swapped firewire cards, still worked and new machine didn't.

Most basics checked: separate 7200rpm capture drive defragged, nothing else running, network connections turned off, OCHI compliant firewire card, good firewire cable, etc. etc.

Disconnected Dazzle DVD Creation Station (USB), viola, no dropped frames.
On limited testing seems to have worked, not sure why, but it is a "capture" device and may have been causing some contention.

Glad to hear you've managed to zap dropped frames - I'm still wrestling with the problem.

Have you actually gotten dropped frames down to 0?

What are the specs on the old & new machines - CPU clock speed, bus bandwidth, RAM? Which OS?

Thanks

I had run into a problem with drop frames and it turned out the drive needed to be defraged. Once I ran that utility my problem went away. Now I run the utility on my capture drive once a week when I'm sleeping.
