Fix The MP3 plugin!?

Ok, I've found this problem when Vegas 4.0 was first released reported the issue, sent in a CDrom with a sample .MP3 file. I've now sat back quiet , through a release of Sound Forge 7.0, and Vegas 5.0 and have heard the same response prior for each of those releases. "We're tarketing the fix for the release of Sound Forge 7.0.".....Sorry, didn't make that one, "We're targeting the fix for the release of Vegas 5.0"....oops, missed that target too. Now how about Acid 5.0, is that the new target? I say, f**k the release targets, let's nudge the .MP3 plugin guru over there at Sony and have an .MP3 plugin patch fix, so that I can open all .MP3 files.......especially the ones that I can open in Windows Media player and Nero, yet can't open in Sound Forge, Vegas, Acid, or CD Architect. I'm sick of having to use Nero to do a job that is more suited to do in Vegas or CD Architect, but I can't because, I can't even open the file in any of the Sony apps. Have your .MP3 guru give Microsoft a call, and talk to one of the Windows media player programmers so he can figure out what he's doing wrong in the Sony .MP3 plugin, which get's used for ALL YOUR APPS. You think a bug which effected all your apps would be considered critical and get addressed in a timely manor. What is up!?

do you mean the "bug" where vegas can not open VBR mp3's ?

i wouldn't really call that a bug as that can get into some major sync issues ....

or is this another bug.. ?

I can open VBR mp3's just fine. it gets screwed up in the display, but they open just fine. I normaly convert all mp3's & oog's to WAV before editing though.

No, this is a Bug with constant bitrate .MP3 files. The file I sent to Sony, was a 192Kbs. The files are an extraction of an entire CD, saved as a singe .MP3 file. The Sony apps will not open them. Sony had mentioned something about the way the header information gets written to the file from the app that created them. They acknowledge that they could open the file in Windows Media Player, and WMP reported it as a 192Kbs file and plays it correctly in WMP. I can also open them in Nero and play them. But Nero takes so long to draw waveforms to be able to insert track ID's that it makes the task very painfully slow. I have downloaded about 10 different files now and keep running into this problem, so I don't know which app it is that created them.....they usually have the name format of "CD title_ALBW.MP3" They know the bug exists, other users have reported the same problem throughout the Sound Forge, Acid, and Vegas Audio forums.....I know they have sample files, and have reproed it, yet still no fix going on 2 years.
