Rebranding the script syntax (namespace and names of plugins) from Sony Creative Software to Magix is a (marketing or legal?) choice of Magix.

Because old (Sony) Vegas Pro scripts are not converted automatically when trying to load in Magix Vegas Pro 14, I made a little tool that can (batch) convert existing (Sony) Vegas Pro scripts to Magix Vegas Pro 14 scripts.

You can download the tool from my website and use it for free.

The tool is intended for people who want to convert a lot of older (before Vegas Pro 14) scripts, that don't work with Vegas Pro 14 anymore because Magix changed the script keywords a little  (rebranding from Sony to Magix).

See f.i.  for a collection of old scripts: http://s92274348.onlinehome.us/vegas.html

The tool is not more complicated than selecting the scriptfiles to convert and hitting the convert button.
You can place the converted scriptfiles manually in the Vegas Pro 14 script folder or SoMaConverter can do it for you.

I think your need is a Youtube tutorial for scripting with Vegas in general?

FocuseOn Vegas.  OK Thanks you very much.   So I import any scripts or all script into your script converter and out put to a folder.  From there,  I can copy it and paste into VP14 script folder.  is this correct?

The tool (SomaConverter) has 2 options in the user interface to write the converted scripts :

  • to the same folder as the selected source scripts
  • to the default installation location of scripts of Vegas Pro 14 on a C: drive
    (so "C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 14.0\Script Menu").

Default option is in the same folder as the source scripts.
The new generated script files 'll have the prefix "MA_".
My advice is to make a new folder in your Script Menu folder f.i. with the name "Converted scripts" and place the converted scripts in it.

Typical use of the tool 'll be a conversion of your collection of scripts that you collected or made in the past after the upgrade to Magix Vegas Pro 14.

It 'll not work for extensions (compiled scripts) and of course if an old script isn't doïng what you want in Vegas 14 my tool can't cure that..... 😄
