Off the top of my head I can't think of a way to do this convincingly in VMS. You probably need to look into particle effects - maybe find the free version of Particle Illusion that was available a while back. Even with that I'm not sure how you'd do it - you need the fog to interact with the people running through it to make it look real.

I was in the Vegas Studio forum and there is a recent post by Jim H. with a season ending video. You all should check it out sometime. He's got some morphing in there, it's very cool That is where I saw the smoke. He says he uses a tool called "Bluff Titler" which appears to be some special 3d software. However I am not sure sure it will work with Vegas Movie Studio. Any other ideas to acheive the smoke effect?

I've got Bluff Titler (pause for embarrased cough) but sight unseen I've no idea how that was done! I'll have a look! Bluff Titler is a titling app which can produce an avi, which you then use in VMS - no problems on that score.

Bluff Titler can do quite a bit more than titles, check out some of the Gallery examples:

Gallery Examples

and some Thumbnail Examples

(and the first example in the gallery (as of now) is from yours truely)

This is my latest creation using Bluff Titler and Sony Vegas, if you like it, gimme five stars on

I used BT to do the 3D text floating and used Vegas to create the blur effect and render the audio.

Very Cool. It sounds like I should get this. Where should I buy it from?

You get it from http://www.outerspace-software.com/ There's a trial version, so you can see if it'll work for you and it's worth downloading the tutorial video while you're there. The GUI's a bit odd, but the tutorial helps and there are loads of examples you can play with to see how it hangs together.

And to add to what lan G said, with all the examples you can change the text to have your own stuff you want really easy.

For example, I made that "LOST" floating intro, but if you wanted to change the word "LOST" to "VEGAS", it would take about 2 seconds.

I've used a ton of their pre-made examples, changed the text to my own, and used them that way. There's a really cool "Toy Story" intro already made, and I changed it to "Dibb Story" for myself.
