I was introduced to Microsoft .NET framework 1.1 (for the first time) today when i HAD to install it prior to installing the Vegas 5 demo. I know nothing about it, but i hear it allows us to use "scripts". Could somebody please suspend judgement of my ignorance and breifly inform me (and anyone else interested) about this topic of "scripts."

Yes, i have read about their description in the help files, but i still don't understand. Perpaps a clear cut example. You rock!

Much oblige.

Here's three clear-cut examples:

Tsunami

Excalibur and Neon

Scripts allow you to automate tasks making your job easier. For example, Excalibur allows you to mix a multi-cam video without making a single cut to the original footage. Then, when you have located where you want each transition between cameras, Excalibur will do them all for you at once. It can even let you choose between cuts, dissolves, or other transitions.

Think of them as "helping tools".

For more scripts, take a look at the Sundance Media Group's site and the list compiled by cheroxy.

Basically it's a programming language to automate tasks in Vegas. Similar to a macro, but much, much more powerful.

Best thing to do is try them and see. cheroxy has generously pulled together all the scripts put together so far for V4 and has updated them for V5

You can find them at:

Scroll down to where it says "Vegas Downloads."

There's a scripting forum right here on the Sony site, and a lot of new ones get loaded onto Douglas Spotted Eagle's Sundance Media site (www.sundancemediagroup.com)

Most of the scripts have a ".js" (for "Java Script") suffix. You may want to open them in Notepad first to read the descriptions of what each does and how to use it.

Have fun!

Hey Guys . . do any other NLEs use scripts to do stuff? - Do any other NLEs have the type of massive support for developing scripts as we do? Can you think of any other NLE that shares this type of creative functionality with everybody?

. . . I aint no programmer . . I use scripts . .AND they have helped me to secure "jobs" [ multicam and others ] and increase my turnover . . oh yeah, they don't make coffee . .. yet!
