Fonts don't show up in Vegas 12

Hi there,

Many fonts that are available in windows/fonts are not in the titler in Sony Vegas 12.
I can use the fonts in Photoshop or any other program, but somehow they are just not in the list, this is very annoying since its the house style of my client...

I'm using windows 7 64 bits and Vegas 12 built 770
Does anyone know how to fix this bug?

Marcel

I've been reporting this with various Builds of VP12 since it came out. SONY are aware of it.

The Fonts are displayed in both PTT and NewBlue.

Thanks,

So it actually is a bug!
Do they have a workaround?
I can't open my new project in Vegas 11, but I can actually see that the Font works there....

I reported this and the marker shift issue many months ago to Sony, and the answer was:
"Both of these issues are listed in our database to be fixed in a future update of the application. Thank you for reporting these issues."
This was before build 670.
Anyway, I noticed that the font issue occurs only in VP12 "Titles & Text" media generator. Projects containing text created in VP11 "Titles & Text" can be loaded and edited in VP12, but the font combo shows nothing...
By the way, what is the disadvantage of working with "(Legacy) Text" media generator?

The problem is with Tiles and Text. Legacy text, ProType and NewBlue are all fine.

The problem seems to be with Opentype fonts with Postscript outlines. Fonts installed by Adobe are all of this class of font file. There are two types of font formats supported by Windows. Truetype and OpenType. The Opentype format supports both Truetype and Postscript outlines/glyphs.

The only workaround is to use one of the other Text plug-ins.
I reported this back in March, pre build 486 and it was acknowledged as a known issue then.
At this point I would say Sony is not interested in fixing this.

I do not think problem comes from opentype fonts, because you can use many opentype fonts in VP12.

Just open your C:\Windows\fonts folder. Check some in VP12...

For example, the Fixedsys Normal font does not appear in the VP12 list.
This one is an openfont, but this font is also a mospaced font
I cannot load any other monospaced font in VP12, but I only have very few monospaced fonts installed, so, I'm not sure this is the problem.

What is the font type you try to use ?

Didier.

Arial Rounded MT Bold, I have this font in Opentype and Truetype formats. Both doesn't work.

And it is not a monospaced font...

Interesting point here: This issue happens in my work computer (the one listed in my profile). I have also VP12 installed in my Vaio notebook (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits), and everything works fine there.

I don't know about "THE" problem, but as stated I know about "A" problem and reported it as I described.

Various Adobe fonts, as described, opentype with postscript outlines, either do no show up or are show up broken into parts. Theose that that do show partially, like Adobe Garamond, do not actually work when you select them. i.e. The font in the preview does not change to the font, or the preview is a different font than what is shown in the Titles and Text dialog.

FixedSys Regular on my Windows 7 installation is not a Truetype or OpenType font. It is a bitmap .fon file. Titles and Text may require scalable fonts.

Another example. Adobe Cooper Std is an OpenType font with postscript outlines. Cooper Black is a Microsoft font and is a Truetype font. Adobe Cooper does not show in Titles and Text but the Microsoft one does.

Easy fix found here. Works like a champ. Use "legacy Text in media generator to see all fonts.
