The warning about the Registry Register sounds scary to a neophyte like me. Has anyone attempted to download this fix? I have been using firewire to download video files from my camcorder, and it sounds like this fix is essential for decent performance.
I loaded it and did not have any problems - there is no need to do anything to the registry unless you add another firewire interface (ie:card) afterr the patch
I too am having capture problems. I have a Panasonic Mini DV camcorder NV-DS99 connected to my computer with a PCI 1394 Firewire. MovieStudio4 doesnt recognise my camera & I have tried all the suggestions in 'Help" without any luck. I have also tried to capture in Microsoft Movie Maker & can't capture in that either. My computer has WindowsXP Professional Service Pack2. I am able to capture using an old Canopus EZDV program & firewire I have, so is not a camera fault. I have also replaced the firewire & controller card incase it was faulty & it still doen't work.
Is the "fix" you mention in this post a later one than the suggestion I have read to uninstall SP2 files & replace them with the SP1 files?????......I wasn't quite game to do that! AND did this patch make your camera work in MM4??
