Vegas Pro 18 is a great software and concept. Thank you, Magix/Vegas Team, for keeping adding new features and updating/modernizing this amazing NLE! It has potential to rival and beat the main players in the pro video/film/social media market. However, there are improvements that need to be implemented to make VP18 polished. Here is my request for the next Vegas Pro 18 update (I also put some of these in the recent survey):
- Important: Normal Edit Tool should be able to select the area/clips on the timeline in a rectangular selection (like in most other NLE's and DAW's), not as a vertical/region all-track-only selection as it is now. This is a basic and constantly needed editing function, and it is very annoying the way it is now in Vegas Pro when trying to select a group of clips on several tracks (VP18 is a great editing tool otherwise).
- Stability improvements (VP18 crashes and freezes a lot when working with more or less complex projects, layered graphic elements, nested projects etc.).
- Proper & full high-DPI support - scaling of all the knobs, sliders and UI elements that are tiny in the current VP18 high-dpi version on the 4K screens (for instance Wave Hammer plugin and many more), auto-scale audio/video plugins UI (third party VSTs as well) etc. It's a 4K+ era and working with tiny UI elements is frustrating.
- More efficient CPU & GPU usage (VP18 doesn't utilize the whole computer power).
- Improve VP18 audio engine (recording with vst plugins is choppy + latency, the other DAW's don't have the same problem on the same PC). Let's not forget that Vegas started as a DAW :)
- Add sort a/v plugins by vendor, "add to favorites" and "assign a category" features in a/v plugin list (ACID Pro has it already - so maybe use that code?).
- Allow mouse wheel scrolling through the plugin/fx chain when they don't fit in the event FX window (Audio Event FX, Audio Track FX, Master FX, Video Event FX, Video Track FX, Video Output FX).
- Add Blackmagic RAW support.
Thank you very much!
P.S. As a feature, Surround 7.1+ support would be great.
