for those editing with XDCAM HD

I think I already know the answer to the is question. After you have conformed to full resolution is there anyway to go back to the proxies???

I know that if you save the veg project file before conforming and then give it a new name after conforming, you can go back to your proxies that way, but that won't help in my case. I have a project that was begun while editing in full resolution so that the client could see the quality of the video. Now I want to take it back to proxies to complete the job but I don't think that is possible short of rebuilding using proxies??

Why would you want to go back to the proxies to complete it, I'm at a loss to understand the reasoning.

I've no real experience with XDCAM Optical however if you move all the full raster HD files to another folder and restart Vegas it'll let you specify which files to replace the ones it cannot find. Assuming the names of the proxies have some correlation to the full res files it should be easy enough to point Vegas to the matching proxies. It's sure going to be easier than rebuilding the whole project.

Bob, I plan to let a friend of mine continue editing the project on her computer which is not nearly as powerful. She needs to work with proxies just to be able to edit quickly. Then we can conform again when she is finished. There are times when you want to go back to the proxy to lengthen a shot for example so it would be nice to have that option.

Your idea sounds very compelling and I am going to give it a try!! Thanks for the nudge.

Bob, thanks for the suggestion!!! Really worked perfectly and only took 3 or 4 minutes. Nice to know about that option for the future as well. Thanks again!
