Force file extention to lower case?

I've asked before but does anyone know how to force Vegas 13 to offer lower case file extension names? MP4 files default to upper case. I seem to remember some suggested looking in the registry but I don't know exactly where or what to change. What's odd is that the Internet HD1080p template offers lowercase but the XDCAM Ex doesn't. It's really annoying having to change the file names afterwards. Thanks.

One might ask what is wrong with an upper case extension. I guess that is because the rest of the name is mainly in lower case and it looks unsightly.

I have the reverse problem with Photoshop when saving raw files as JPG. The default name is for example:

In Vegas Pro 8, it always saves with lower case filename extensions.

However, try this. Go to Options. Then hold down the Shift key while you click on Preferences. You should see an extra tab labeled "Internal". See if there is a setting in there that will do what you want.

Good luck!

You know, i've never encountered this problem with Vegas, or any of the Sony Creative Software suite. Maybe it's because i grew up in an earlier era or maybe it's just because i'm pedantic, but i always type the extension in myself when saving/creating a file. (Back in the ancient days, when i was ... younger ..., we HAD to, dontcha know?) If i type the extension in lower case then it saves in lower case.

I realize it's asking a lot to type in 4 extra keystrokes, but give it a try and see if that does what you want.

But therein lies the rub. XDCAM EX (.MP4) seems to be hard-coded to override the user input and force upper case .MP4.

Other render templates behave differently.

Curious @Kit

What precludes you from leaving it in upper case?
