It would be nice to be able to favorite different threads so we could easily find them later in our profiles. I've seen it around a couple places and it is real nice to have.
I'm just sayin.....
What I would really like to see is an option to "subscribe" to a thread (like the Sonar forum) where one is emailed when someone replies to the thread.
The problem with subscribing to threads is that it causes one to be "selfish" in a sense. You can go there, post a question and never return until you get an email in your inbox saying someone responded. When the option is not there, you tend to return to check your thread as well as others that may catch your eye.
Personally, I like this forum the way it is: simple and useful for the community.
This forum is one of the worst I have seen. It is unbelievable that someone would be opposed to others having a choice. I believe in having the OPTION of subscribing to a thread or not. It is certainly NOT selfish and to suggest that is ignorant.
I find that sometimes I respond to a message here and then forget to go back to that thread. I wish these forums had an easy way to filter on threads I have responded to so I could be sure to followup on questions asked me. I know I could do a search on my name, but that is too many steps. DPReview has a prominent "My Threads" link at the top of the screen and I use it often.
Jerry, click on your forum name, "TeeTime" in your post and voila, there's your list.
Personally i think this is the best laid out forum i've ever participated in. It's just the text information, no annoying little extras to eat up screen space and slow down load times. I'm not adverse to a few new features, but for those of us who don't want them they should remain optional.
Selfish? Dude, seriously, give me a freaking break. I just want to be able to see on old thread without having to use the absolutely terrible search function on this site.
Some people.....
It's rather queer that ignorance would be the label placed on my remark. The one of which I was speaking was myself; so if nothing else, I would say that I speak from experience on the matter.
Over on the Adobe forums they have this feature and that is exactly what I do. I pose a question and wait for a response. Sometimes I get a response and sometimes I don't. Sometimes it takes up to a day before I get the first response and sometimes I never get one. Here I could post a question and normally have an answer within the hour.
Make of my statement(s) what you will as you are entitled to your opinion, but don't read into them. They are my opinion on the matter.

Although this forum is not near as responsive (timewise) I still love it and would have a tough time without it.
That said, I've found that after not getting a reply here (after checking every hour or so) I tend to either forget about it or assume it is not going to get a response and blow it off (but I never bump it because that irritates everyone).
In the past I have clicked my name and found that someone did indeed reply (maybe days later) and I felt like a jerk for not seeing it and at least responding with a thanks.
With the option to be emailed when someone replies, all of that is not an issue and I can keep working without fretting over it.

They have that feature over on dvxuser dot com, and it works well.
Someone responds to a query and you receive an e-mail.
No forgetting about it or having to check back every few minutes.
Question-Response-Notification.
Pretty effiecient communication.
I just simply wanted to be able to even favorite threads that I may not even be a part of. Say something that I found from 3 months ago that totally answered a question I had.
Kelly, I get great value from these forums, but I have a different opinion of the interface. I enjoy the content and the people here in spite of the clunky UI. If you aren't familiar with it, take a look at the forums on DPReview.com. To me, it is much cleaner and functional UI than the one on this forum.
Here's what I mean by clunkiness:
1. Yes, I can click on my forum name to bring up my threads - IF it is visible to me. It is only visible if I am the originator or last poster in one of the threads on the current page. Otherwise, I have to go searching for a thread I'm in. Since I'm not nearly as prolific as many of you it is usually a multi-click process for me.
2. I still find the two search tools confusing at times. I'll look to the top of the page, see "search" and enter my term only to find out I'm searching the site instead of forum posts. I would guess forum search is used from the Forums page at least 10 times more often than the site search, yet it is a multi-step process, whereas site search is type your term and click to search.
3. It seems silly to me that to go to another forum you have to first click on Forums, then select the forum you want from a list. This is what dropdown lists are for.
The common denominator on each of these is that it takes three or more clicks to do something that should only require one. Come to think of it, that is the same thing that sometimes annoys me about Vegas - too many steps to do common repetitive tasks.

Jerry, when I do this, I get links to every post I've ever made (100 at a time) and it doesn't matter if I'm the originator, last in the thread or somewhere in between.
I just use this, there's a subscribe function I wrote in there somewhere, and a search function, but I don't remember how to use it. Didn't we go over all these questions a few years ago? The admins weren't really interested, if I recall.
