ForumAdmin! / NE1 HELP!-Sony Vid Cap S/N?!?!

FrigidNDEditing wrote on 8/25/2005, 4:42 PM
I just did the Moviestudio install/uninstall so that I could do AC3 audio in Vegas.

Now it says that the Sony Video Capture needs a Serial - i put in my Vegas SN but it says that it should start with JC (mine starts with JB) - I need to cap footage - what the heck am I supposed to do?!?!

Thank you in advance

Dave

There is some sort of glitch, as far as I can tell, that opens up VidCap in the limited mode unless you open it from within Vegas so I am guessing the same holds true for Movie Studio? Or are you saying that when you open up VidCap from within the program (As opposed to opening it as a standf alone app) it asks for a serial?

yea -but I spent this time figuring out a less than appreciable cure

I just uninstalled and deleted most everything related to vegas and re-installed

I'm good now

Just wasted some time, when I don't have a ton to spare.

but I didn't isntall the Moviestudio+DVD I installed Moviestudio+DVD Platinum.

That could have caused part of the problem

im sure it is just a registry entry that needs to be deleted - much as the mpeg2 and ac3 issues

Dave, I had the same issue last weekend so I did a quick search through the knowledgebase and found this:

Answer ID 631

Question
Video Capture asks for a serial number, but will not accept my Vegas serial number. What should I do?

Answer
This is due to a bug in Video Capture. To fix this, simply uninstall and reinstall Vegas. Make sure you have completely uninstalled any previous versions of Video Capture from the machine. Also ensure that you are installing Vegas from the full version installer and not the trial version.

I did it and was back in business without all the headaches you went through :-)

I can't describe how close I came to downloading that, for the same reason, and I didn't because I'm on dial-up and it would have taken hours to do.
I would have flipped out if I'd lost my ability to capture after all that. Especially since I've never yet converted a DVD back to the timeline to re-use or re-author. (I would like the ability of being able to re-import .ac3s, though. The day of rearranging DVDs is coming)
WHEW!

well - it is acually only one file you need to do this -
