Hey all, for those Canadians here happy long weekend....
I was tooling about with the editing station today. It seems lately, with all the people I know who are upgrading to LCD monitors, Stan seems to be the one to find homes for those orphaned but highly funtional CRT monitors that get left behind.
I kept two monitors that were such left behinds...two identical Viewsonic G90fb 19inch true flatscreen crt monitors. A welcome improvment over my aging Sony and Samsung monitors. It's also great to finally be using identical monitors on a dual-monitor set up. Very nice.
Something though, I found out really cool and I'm not too sure if anyone else knows this. I was given the Dazzle Hollywood Bridge DV converter by a friend here....( thanks again buddy....) and I discovered something cool with it. Now I know this thing is a consumer oriented device which many have had problems with, but luckily I've had no trouble with it. And now I found another handy feature for video editing. It seem this device can output from it's RCA video out simultaniously with the S-Video output.
....the wheels start rolling, so I plug the older TV to the RCA video out and the new TV to the S-Video. And shazaam !!! --- Two Vegas monitor outputs at the same time. Perfect for those situations when you want the client watching their own monitor from the couch as opposed to breathing over your shoulder. ( This is how Peter Jackson likes to edit...on the couch with his bare feet up )
As this is a lower end DV box, I'm sure the higher end ones can do this as well......
.....just something I discovered and wanted to share......happy editing.
