Four Text generator wishes

One
Alongside the shadow and outline effects I'd like a solid bar, adjustable for colour and alpha, that sits behind each symbol of text for better readability. The bar should resize when the text is resized, but the proportional relation between the text point size and the bar thickness should be adjustable.

Two
I want to be able to set a default text box and formatting for each project.

Three
I want to be able to drop .txt files on a video track, automatically creating either (selectable) one text event for each file or one for each paragraph in that (one) file. They should assume the default format (see Two) and line up one after another on the same track.

Four
I want to layer text events so I can set some formatting for all the layers at one time, and also format each layer individually. Then I can easily have several colours etc. and still treat all the layers as one event.

Please note: I'm not asking for help in achieving these effects. This is a wishlist for Vegases to come.

I'd like to see an entirely new text generator. The current metaphor is extremely awkward, and the amount of work required to get basic text effects is far too great. My advice would be to scrap the current text generator rather than to patch it or add onto it.

"The current metaphor" in regard to a text generator is a metaphor not currently understood by me.

Adding to Tor's request for project based type settings:

It would be helpful if the text generator could understand XSL and/or CSS type tags for additional formatting information. It should also be able to decipher formatted scripts and create the text-events as needed.

I would also like to have a hybrid 'Text-Property Envelope/ Keyframe' that would control the text-size, position, color, visibility, etc. of each text event. The keyframe holds the content and/or style info and the envelope would handle variations of that style and/or content.

It could work like the Audio Panning or Fade to Color envelope. As one example, center would be the base format and moving the envelope up or down would change the font size accordingly.

Thanks - Franco
