"Frame Desynchronization Issue Between Vegas Pro Versions"

ZeroEndDark-Projects wrote on 1/25/2025, 5:22 AM

Hey everyone! Has anyone else experienced that when saving a project in an older version of Vegas and then opening it in a newer version, the clips get desynchronized by 2 frames? 😱

What happens is that those 2 frames of difference make the clips show frames from a previous scene, which completely messes up the precise cuts we made! For example, if I worked on a project in Vegas 18 and open it in Vegas 20, every clip in the edit becomes out of sync by 2 frames! 😣

This throws off the entire clip synchronization, and it looks weird, as if it's showing part of the previous scene. Has anyone else encountered this? How did you fix it? I’d really appreciate any tips or experiences! šŸ™

I've not heard of this before.

Which VP20 build are you using and give us Media Info on one of your problem clips https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

This is a bug in the software and you may need to go back to an older version.

Different decoders may interpret media differently (and not be a bug). Can you share MediaInfo for the media in question?

The different decoders are differently buggy. As of July 2022, the various choices for HEVC decoding, e.g. "Enable legacy HEVC decoding" and using GPU or not, produced different lengths for any given event. Also, sometimes the first 2 frames would be missing. A long discussion was had.

I haven't checked recently.
