Frame Rate drops on NewTrack Rendered GenMed?

Grazie wrote on 8/6/2005, 3:15 AM
OK:

1) Vegas Proj1 Generated Media on Tracks 1 thru 4

2) Preview - Frame rate very low - EXPECTED

3) Render sequence to New Track

4) Preview & SOLO-ed the New track Render - Frame rate very low - NOT EXPECTED!

5) Open New Instance of Vegas Veg Proj2

6) Copy from Veg Proj1 rendered GenMed

7) Paste into 2nd Instance

8) Preview 2nd Instance - Frame Rate solid 25fps - EXPECTED! !

Summary:

Why in Veg1 FPS is LOW but in Veg2 FPS is it correct?

TIA ( Thanks In Advance) ,

Grazie

OK . . hold on HERE!:

Repeated same in Vegas 5

Copied the V6 Events straight into V5. Preview Frame Rate even BEFORE rendering is correct, a very stable 25FPS.

Now WHAT on earth am I doing wrong in the V6 instance that gives LOW FPS ( 2 fps ) Preview BUT is correct in V5, at 25fps?

TIA

Grazie

Hi Grazie. In the words of our local Mentor Graphics "expert" after 4 hours trying to fix our printing problem, "There must be something wrong".

Have you checked the obvious, like effects applied to the main bus output? Motion blur, perhaps? That would explain why it is OK in a clean project. Doesn't explain why Vegas 5 is faster of course.

Can't find it quickly, but I was reading a similar thread this morning - what is your Ram Preview set to? Try 16 Mb or even zero.

Peter - I can't remember . .but anyways, don't forget, I THEN openned up another instance of Vegas, and if the RAM was low/higher before, this 2nd instance worked as it should.

Richard, yes as you say, the Vegas 5 is working, "GO Figure" - as they say?

Grazie, here's the GMElliott thread - don't know why I couldn't find it before , it's not far down the list -

May or may not be the same symptom, but interesting anyway ....

Peter, thanks for the "detective-time" .. I did read some of this when it first appeared, but now, thanks Peter, and using the GenMed, I re-read it - NOW I have!

Still not a conclusive conclusion/result when you take onbaord my comments on the success of then a 2nd instance Vegas - does it?

. .and yes . .interesting. The switch to V6 has a growing list of, "This didn't happen in V5" issues. My SteadyHand AVIs still don't preview to ExtMon from the Trimmer - they do in Vegas 5 and Vegas 4.

Grazie

See my comments in the GMElliott thread. If this problem is the same, I suspect repeated tries on V5 (or V6) will eventually show the problem and V4 will never show the problem. That's what's happening for me.
