Does it have to be exactly that or can it be a similar aspect ratio that would work like 4096x879?

I think he wants to beat the 4096 limit. I'd like this fixed as well. There is some 8K out there in the wild - can't see a reason to keep Vegas neutered when it is probably a simple fix in the code.

Vegas can edit some files >4k, but probably not produce output >4k. Just in case this helps, try the Red Dragon 6k file which can be downloaded here:
(download is on the page below the video). If you drop this file as the first file onto timeline Vegas will offer to set your project to that size. Maybe maybe then it will accept your >4k file? Also FYI most Red Dragon files will not open in Vegas 13, Sony have known about this since at least October 2014, they could not tell me when there will be a fix (and Sony does list Red r3d files as supported). If your file is something they should be supporting, suggest you report it to support even though response will be sloooooowwww.

It's a video for an ultrawide screen with that exact resolution. Video is from different sources, mostly HD, a bit of 4K and then a few photos. Seems like I'm out of luck with Vegas.
