From a very old post...

I was looking back at some of my very early posts and came across this comment I'd made based on another editing suite I used at a friend's (cannot now remember what it was):

Another addition I'd like to see would be the ability to choose any frame from a captured clip to use as a display in the media pool rather than just the first frame. This way you can select a frame that is more likely to convey the true contents of each clip.

At the time a lot of clips captured from analogue source seemed to start with a black frame or other rubbish. But, even these days, I find the first frame doesn't always depict what the clip is really about.

Would anyone else find the above useful? Is it worth adding to a wish list?

Edit: The original post was in 2002!

Yeah . . . However, we can do it in Media Manager:

Then it's time to swap this feature from the Media Manager to Project Media … ;)

Absolutely! - But maybe SHARED rather. My invitation wasn't to "use" MM, but that it already exists and so SCS knows about it in MM.

Thanks Grazie.

Never actually used MM.

However on the download page at http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/updates/mediamanager it states for VP 8-11. Does this mean it's not supported in 12 or, perhaps, Sony hasn't got round to updating the site.

Is anyone else using it satisfactorily with V12?

VP12 B367 - That's where I just did my Screen Grab of the "Thumbnail Selection".
