Frontier Designs TRANZPORT

Tim Tyler wrote on 12/11/2007, 2:37 PM
Vegas 8.0a does not recognize Frontier Designs TRANZPORT. The device shows up in the midi list and in the External Control and automation tab but Vegas will not recognize it after it's selected and added via the External Control and automation tab. The TRANZPORT works fine with Acid Pro 6.0 and worked fine with Vegas 7.

Any idea what's going on with this?

Thanks!

What happens if you double click on the entry for the Tranzport in the External Control page?

A dialog should open and tell you if there are any problems or whether it was connected.

I'm a dummy...

So that someone else may benefit...

You must select the TRANZPORT in BOTH midi in and midi out spots under the midi devices tab. Once I did that, the TRANZPORT comes up fine.

Thank you, Peter!

Glad to hear it and a good bit of trouble shooting advice

Once I was having a fit trying to get an external MIDI device to work. I spent hours looking at my code thinking something was wrong. I installed new hardware. Nothing worked.

Finally after hours and countless curses at the driver developers of my MIDI interface, I solve the problem.

It appeared that my cat had chewed through my MIDI cable.

My point?

Look at the simple things.

Thanks

is there something else i can look for to find why my tranzport is not working?

seems like there is not much to it, but all it will do is display "master 0.0"
and no buttons will change it.
will say "vegas online" when starting up, is in the midi and ext cont lists.

anything else i can look for?

thanks for any help

I asked in another thread about the AlphaTrack (but got no replies.) Is there any support for this controller?
Thanks,
Jesse

OK, thanks to all the crickets. The details of V9 leave me wanting more so never mind. I'm trying to decide who gets my money instead of Sony.

You need to do 4 things to get the Tranzport ( and presumably other generic controllers working).

1 - Enable External Control
2- Add the device
3 - Enable the MIDI In ports in Options | Prefs | MIDI tab
4 - Tie the decive to those ports in it's 'Active Control Devices' entry in Options | Prefs | External Control and Automation tab
