Full frame mirrorless camera with no HDR monitor or TV

I’m moving into the world of 10 bit .. Full frame camera .. but I don’t have an HDR television set or HDR computer monitors.  Will I be able to get along as I try a few projects with my new Full Frame Mirrorless camera?

Windows has a built-in "pseudo-10-bit" monitor mode for HDR on a standard monitor. It's not got the gamut, but it's better than nothing. You pay a little for the HEVC decoder; the VP9 is free.

If you can't see what you're doing don't bother with HDR. You can make excellent SDR from log footage.

Would I be looking for a monitor like this?

Not really. To grade HDR, you will need a monitor that is able to achieve 1000 nits. This monitor goes up to 350 nits only. The problem is, that you will not be able to see the highlighs.

Maybe this unit: https://www.philips.de/c-p/27B1U7903_00/professional-monitor-4k-uhd-mini-led-thunderbolt-tm-4-monitor#see-all-benefits

Or you stay with SDR, as Roger suggests.

Laptop: ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED * internal HDR preview * i9 12900H with i-GPU Iris XE * 32 GB Ram) * Geforce RTX 3070 TI 8GB * internal HDR preview on the laptop monitor * Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4K mini

HDR monitor: ProArt Monitor PA32 UCG-K 1600 nits, Atomos Sumo

Others: Edius NX (Canopus NX)-card in an old XP-System. Edius 4.6 and other systems

@xberk, I use 2 pieces of this brand. It has only 300CD/m², a budget invest.

By grading you would not see highlight peak but you can check it here.

Everything depends on which hand it's settling in, like my small goPro.
Otherwise, @RogerS is correct.

Makes no sense to have no accurate preview. With 300 nits, you do not grade HDR really in an appropriate way.
