I would kindly like to ask for your attention in the following situation.

When using the FX on images or videos with an aspect ratio of 1.62 or greater the mask is not functioning properly.

Increasing the height of picture (therefore lowering the aspect ratio), will remove the faulty ‘fx mask’-area.

Using

Nikon camera photos (3.872px x 2.592px) will not create a problem since the aspect ratio is 1,49

HD Video (1.920px x 1.080px) will create this issue having an aspect ratio of 1,77

The ‘critical’ ratio appears to be 1,62. Below this threshold will not result in any issues - above will show the mask problem (on all FX-effects).
