FYI: Filmconvert Nitrate

Question to Filmconvert re Blackfriday special on FB messenger:

Hi guys, I have a license for FilmConvert for Vegas Pro. Last time I asked I was told FilmConvert [Nitrate] is in the making for Vegas Pro as well. I don't want to miss out on the current special, but it makes no sense for me to upgrade if it's not working for VP. What do you recommend I do?

reply:

Right now the OFX plugin has limited support for Vegas - it's working on some combos of OS and hardware and not one others. We recommend downloading the trial plugin version first and making sure you're completely happy with it before deciding to purchase. We don't have a development timeframe for 100% support for Vegas Pro, but it's unlikely to be before Q2 2020, so it's a WYSIWYG situation

for what it's worth..I for my part have delayed being jumpey for once ;-)

I installed it but only see version 2.20 in the Fx tab. Where do I find Nitrate? Using Vegas 17.

Answer is- download the Resolve Open Fx trial, not Vegas.

I downloaded it but it seems to lack the curves control Resolve has and none of the changes made in the software affect the preview window so it doesn't work. I'm using a GeForce 1050 (notebook) with the latest studio drivers and Vegas Pro 17. If anyone has advice I'd appreciate it!

@kinetik, have you used the (current, non-Nitrate) Filmconvert version to tell the difference between the versions? Also sorry but I am more interested in current VP17/win10 than 2 gen behind, but thanks for your contributions

Okay, I got a bit further. With Vegas 17, Win 10 64 and GeForce 1050, if I create a Vegas project that's 32 bit (video levels), you can see the effects in real time.

I can't see any improvements beyond the previous version as I can't figure out how to get the overlay to work. It's just a bunch of sliders. Selecting your camera and picture profile doesn't seem to change colors, just luma. There aren't so many film types to choose from.

If it had a better interface than the Vegas grading window (Photoshop-like curves, tint/temp sliders, black& white point selection, 3 way color corrector) I'd buy it for that alone, and probably not use film simulation or grain.

I have Filmconvert Nitrate and I'm testing it on Vegas Pro 17. I get the dialog box but non of the adjustments are showing on the viewer. Is Nitrate compatible with Vegas Pro 17? Thanks. Bart
