I suggest you download and read the 360 page PDF version of the manual. Loads of helpful illustrations, images plus easy to follow instructions. :-)

Of course the best way to learn any complex application is just get your feet wet and start playing with it.

As others have said, take the pdf manual to kinkos and have them print and bind it, ($40.) ask them to enlarge it to fill an 8.5x11 page for easy reading. The manual is really quite good, you don't have to read it in order. GG, does VV3 have the tutorial CD? my tut is from VV2. Also there is a SoFo sample project ftp (188MB)that I downloaded, by I lost the ftp. GG's COW tutorials are very concise and clear. I am only a few months into this myself, I have abandoned one NLE and it takes all my strength to open premiere.
