I noticed that the clips i encode out of Vegas get whased out when encoded to MPEG2 and burned to DVD. Someone from Architect forum told me that it's the player. I was wonderingw hether there is a way to encode the clips in such a way that it gets washed out as little as possible?
You could try boosting the gamma up to compensate however you might then run into other issues. First off check the levels on the scopes. If it's a bit 'cool' to start with then it's going to get noticebly worse.
Ideally your blacks should be down at 0 and the whites up at 255. This is pretty much the way DV cameras record video but perhaps if you're coming from 'legal' analogue tapes then that's not the case.
Bob.
DVD players have traditionally added a 7.5IRE setup to the output (in NTSC land). If you feed this to a digital display that expects no setup, then it will look washed out.
(Newer DVD players often have a menu selection to control the setup.)
Vegas and DVDA will not screw up your video, and the MPEG encoder is one of the best.
