gaps/skipping between tracks in music compilations

i am interested in using dvd architect 2.0 for creating non stop party music compilations. however having done some detailed research i realise there is a serious flaw in the creation of such compilations. that is that when the dvd disk is played on a dvd player, at each track/chapter id a 1 sec or so gap is inserted in the music which renders the disk and the dvd created with dvd architect 2 useless for non stop party compilations.

it would be greatly appreciated if anyone out there could advise on a solution to get around this problem or a software package that enables one to do such a thing without gaps.

i have contacted sony and the response is that this is due to the limitations of the dvd format as a whole and not limited to their dvd architect software program. is this correct?

any comments or feedback would be much appreciated.

I am new to this as well but it seem that that would be "cheated" if you ran it as a movie - DVD Menu Based.

I don't see any gaps inbetween movie chapters for a concert DVD I am working on. You could render the music as a "soundtrack" for a movie. Then place your chapters. You'd probably have to cross fade the actual songs in Vegas, Sound Forge or Acid. You could use this to your advantage by having simple video footage (i.e. Windows Media Player reactions to music being played) on a tv, monitor, or even better a a projection screen.

i thought about that as an option of loading a wav file into a dvd based menu but doing so would increase the file sizes dramatically coz it thinks there is a movie there too even if it is only a wav file playing. so it defeats the object really because with a dvd you would be able to fit a lot more music on one disk than on a cd. any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm not a DJ, so this may be a stupid question. Why, if you are creating a non-stop compliation, do you need chapter points?

Lemme explain ...

If your music is typical cross-faded non-stop, then you don't want to jump around in the mix because you'll never have a clean place to jump to or from. You'll end up with jarring cuts into the crossfades or just before or after them. I wouldn't want my audience to hear that.

If your needs require you to jump around to non-contiguous songs, then you'll want clean silent breaks between them so that you can jump from one to the next in a way that sounds acceptable, after one song ends completely and before the next one starts. You won't want non-stop cross-faded compliations for this.

The only way to randomly jump from one song to the next non-stop with cross-fades is to use two separate players. So, i think my question still stands, why do you want chapter points in a non-stop compilation?

the reason i need chapter points is not to skip around or hop from different tracks to others, but if the disc jumped or something went wrong you would have to start again from the beginning of the dvd - that wouldn't be very good if you were 3 hours into the dvd music compilation and had to start again from the beginning repeating all the same songs again! if you had chapter points you could quickly go back to where you were when the failure occurred.

believe me anything can go wrong with this sort of technology so you need the precautionary measures in place.

not sure if you are aware but all commercial cd dj/club mix compilations are continous music from start to finish but they all have track id/chapter points at the start of each different song. it would be great to achieve the same thing on dvd so you could have a much longer compilation. unlike cd this doesn't seem to be possible on dvd and possibly a major flaw in the dvd architect software or design in the dvd medium as a whole - any info on whether this can be achieved would be much appreciated.
