oh wow.....wow.....wow......

so, i downloaded them for a 'laugh' - i mean, who in their right mind is going to pay around $2.5k for a plugin? i just wanted to see what the hype was about.....

ain't no hype. i have to say i'm so tempted to buy them that i have to keep talking myself out it! i mean i no longer do any 'high-end' stuff, half of them require a learning curve probably longer than my life expectancy, i looked at and thought bcc7 was way too expensive for what it offers, and i haven't even re-install newblue cause i was feeling all the effects were looking rather 'tacky', etc., etc.,

but wow - you ain't seen nothing till you've seen genarts! i mean just one of their effects in a project can make it look like a million dollar production!

can someone out there please, please dissuade me from splurging out and buying them......

You think you've got a problem, I'm lusting after a F3 and a box of primes. Then I saw some footage shot on that puppy with an anamorphic lens. I must be getting better (or is it worse?) I could see the difference in how the lens flares.

Back in the real world I realise I cannot for the life of me think of anything I've shot in the last decade that would justify using that camera or lenses. All of my work is strictly of the "we're going to do something and you just stand there with the camera and shoot it". If I'm really lucky the might remember to turn the lights on....

If you've got the work that would justify it to you, go for it. No regrets I say. What else are you hanging onto your money for, a heated bedpan?

Bob.

a heated bedpan?

yes, but i can't decide which model......

oh bob, what are we to do? there's so many things out there that we just HAVE TO HAVE, right NOW!!!!!

interestingly enough, with my clients still demanding tape i feel rather fortunate, i can't even consider any tapeless camcorders, of which there are now a great many that would, under other circumstances, have me drooling.... and yes, i know where you're coming from with the f3! and bugger the clients, you turn up with one of those, show 'em the footage, and they'll be drooling as well....

i have NOTHING that justifies buying genarts, but..... you're right, what am i going to do with my business profits - i like hdv, so my pc's just hunky dory, my z5 and bits (your light is pretty bloody spectacular!) works for everything i'm likely to do (and if not, i'll hire from you!). my dated audio kit still gives me clean, good sound (even if i can't hear it any more!), and all that's left is peripherals that rarely cost more than a few hundred - so yes, there's every chance i'll buy them, and regret it when i find the auto sensing, self-emptying, colour coordinated bed pan has gone up to a four figure price tag.....
